2006 South Dakota Achievement Award
Governor’s Office of Economic Development Director Jafar Karim,
presents Bob DeMersseman, Rapid City Economic Development Partnership President
and Terri Haverly Rapid City Economic Development Partnership Vice President
the 2006 South Dakota Achievement Award for communities over 5000 at the
recent GOED annual conference. The award was given for the Rapid City Economic
Development Opportunity Capture Fund funded from the city’s 2012
program. Rapid City Economic Development proposed an Opportunity Capture
Fund to be used to stimulate economic development activity in the Rapid
City area. The ultimate goal of the fund would be to create quality jobs
and significant investment in the Rapid City area. It is targeted primarily,
but not exclusively, towards the “aggressive diversification” of
Rapid City’s economy around technology based economic development
and other high value job opportunities for the citizens of Rapid City
