Comments: The National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program was established by Congress in 1988 to contribute to the nation’s science enterprise by funding research, education, and public service projects through a national network of 52 university-based Space Grant Consortia. The SD Space Grant Consortium (SDSGC) was established in 1991 by a NASA Capability Enhancement Grant. SDSGC establishes links between higher education, government, and industry in South Dakota. It promotes education in NASA-supported fields of math, science, engineering, and technology. SDSGC develops earth systems science and aerospace infrastructure in South Dakota. SDSGC enhances faculty development through summer faculty fellowships at the EROS Data Center. Furthermore, the Consortium provides graduate and undergraduate student fellowships, scholarships and assistantships. It also conducts outreach to pre-college teachers and students, etc.
